Freshman outfielder Jazmyn Jackson went 2 for 3 with a triple and two runs scored.  Mitty scored three runs in the first inning after a line drive smashed ace Warrior pitcher Janell LaRont just below her knee brace and she had to be replaced. Lack of control doomed her replacement. LaRont later returned but the damage had been done. Mitty’s only other loss this season was to Gilroy

Overcoming two late-inning rallies that found the bases loaded, the Haybalers managed to hold off the Scots and win their seventh consecutive CCS softball championship. San Benito jumped to a 6-0 edge after four innings behind ace pitcher Megan Sabbatini before Carlmont rallied in the fifth. The Scots loaded the bases and Janelle Shiozaki walked to force in a run. Two batters later, a fielder’s choice made it 6-2. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Carlmont again loaded the bases but could only push one more run across. Taylor Fabing had three hits, including a two-run homer, and five RBIs for San Benito. Another junior, Ellie Buley, had three hits and scored three runs for the winners.

Alvarez struck out eight and gave up just three hits. In three playoff games, she allowed just one run and five hits. She had a 26-1 record for the season. Every batter in Mitty’s lineup had at least one hit with sophomore shortstop Jazmyn Jackson and freshman outfielder Danielle Bowers connecting for three apiece. The big blast, however, was a two-run triple in the third inning by Ashley Chestnut that gave Mitty a 3-0 lead. Leigh scored its only run in the fourth as Lizzie Hogan tripled in Lauryn Saunders.
