Honor Coach Program

The Central Coast Section's Honor Coach Award program honors one coach each year, in each sport, for his/her contribution to that sport at the interscholastic level.  Suggested names for nomination are sought from each Sport Committee at its annual evaluation meeting, and nominations may also be initiated by any Coach, Athletic Director, Administrator, or League Commissioner.  In order to be considered, all applications must be signed by the nominee's Athletic Director, Principal, and League Commissioner.  Listed below are the nomination criteria, as well as deadlines and structure of selection process.

Honor Coach Nomination Form

  • Submit nomination form in Word format.
  • Include photo attachment of candiate
  • CC the Athletic Director, Principal, and League Commissioner when submitting form via email.
  • Who is eligible for nomination?
    • The nominee must be an active coach at the time of nomination.
    • The nominee must have coached the respective sport for a minimum of five (5) years at the varsity interscholastic level.
    • The nominee may be a non-credentialed coach, as long as he/she meets the first two criteria above.
  • What kind of criteria should be considered for nominees?
    • Maintenance of professional standards of conduct.
    • General service to the respective sport.
    • Outstanding coaching accomplishments (not necessarily focused on win/loss record or championship titles).
    • Additional contributions to school and community.
    • Role model and inspiration/motivation to athletes, coaches, fellow teachers, administrators, parents, public.
  • What is the process for nominations/selection?
    • At its respective Evaluation Meeting during the previous school-year, each CCS Sport Committee will be asked to suggest a list of qualified coaches to whom, in turn, the CCS Office will send nomination forms.
    • Any Coach, Athletic Director, Administrator, or League Commissioner may also submit a nomination form.
    • In order to be considered, all nomination forms (those initiated by any Coach, Athletic Director, Administrator, League Commissioner, and Sport Committee) should be completed in full.
    • CC the Athletic Director, Principal, and League Commissioner when submitting form via email.
    • All completed nomination forms should be sent via email in Word Format to: msanchez@cifccs.org
  • Announcements and Press Releases regarding Honor Coach Award recipients will be sent out by the CCS Office.
  • Honor Coaches will be recognzied during the respective season (Fall, Winter or Spring) at the championship event of that sport.
