Carmel stopped Gunn's team championship string, giving the section its first new champion since boys' tennis competition began.  The format was unchanged

Geordie McKee of Menlo School, who finished second a year earlier, won the singles title.  Bellarmine was team champion.

Team competition was divided into large and small school divisions.  Monta Vista was large school champion over Leland 7-0, and Menlo School took the other division with a 6-1 win over R.L. Stevenson

Monta Vista and Menlo School repeated as Division I and Division II champions, respectively. In another repeat of 1998, Menlo ended the year undefeated and inflicted the only loss on Monta Vista in a non-league match.  Menlo finished 24-0 with a win in the CIF Northern California championship.

Los Gatos ended Monta Vista’s Div. 1 win streak at sixth, but Menlo School extended its string of consecutive Div. 2 championships to six.
