The CCS Golden Whistle Awards programs honors one varsity official each year in each sport for his/her contributions(s) to that sport at the interscholastic level.  The nominee can be a retired or active official. The nominee shall have officiated the sport for which they are nominated, at the varsity level for a minimum of five (5) years including selection to officiate at CCS championship events.

Consideration for selection shall be given to the maintenance of professional standards of conduct; general service to the respective sport regarding judgment and temperament; additional contributions to the profession and community; and a role model and inspiration/motivation to other officials.

Procedure:        Nominations may be submitted by the officials associations, member schools, leagues and/or generated by that sports CCS Sports Committee to CCS.  The CCS Sports Committee for that sport shall vote for nominees to make final selection. Nominations should be submitted and voted upon chronologically so that the Golden Whistle Award recipient for that sport for that school year can be announced near the beginning of that season and recognized throughout that season of sport as the Golden Whistle Award Winner for that sport.

Presentation:     Notification of being the Golden Whistle Award recipient for that season of sport should be made as early in the season as possible, with actual presentation of the Golden Whistle Award as determined by the CCS including such public recognitions as the CCS Board of Managers meeting, CCS Playoff Events, etc. at some time during that season of sport but no later than the CCS Championship for that sport.
